Clay drives my life. I am a working artist and find absolute joy in the manipulation of this wonderful medium . Sharing my enthusiasm for art materials is very easy because I love making and watching art take shape. Constantly changing my ideas and projects keeps me hopping and makes my room an exciting ,self esteem building, inventive space that generates new levels of ideas.
I love finding ways that are natural and unique to fire my clay pieces. Munson-Williams in Utica NY is fabulous. We have built a salt kiln as well as a anagama kiln . Our anagama kiln is fired about twice a year and produces amazing results. The anagama is all  about letting the wood and ash do what they will to the clay in an reduction atmosphere that constantly amazes me. There is no electricity needed to make this magic happen just a lot of dedicated hard core potters with enthusiasm. The firing takes place over days and nights to give us an outstanding firing that is always a delight to witness. In Old Forge there is the View Art center. This is my go to August firing spot. They have a beautiful outdoor reduction gas kiln and a cranberry red glaze that is so intense on the white porcelain body that I feel like a queen from Egypt every time I get a finished piece from the kiln . This art center is so friendly and it has a pottery studio that is equally as beautiful as the people that work within it. I feel so humbled and honored to be surrounded by these 2 great art places in upstate NY. I try to bring all that goodness and kindness with me to work everyday to share with my students. The willingness to go above and beyond~ never stop learning~ and hear yourself sing from within. Let the process create a melody we will never forget!!! Technology will never replace human interaction.
