Teaching is actually a second career for me.  In my  first career I was a Medical Technologist in several hospitals.  I began working at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Syracuse.  I then transferred to Reading Medical Center in Reading Pennsylvania where I served as the Hematology laboratory supervisor.  I then relocated back to NYS and became the Laboratory Manager at Rome Hospital. 

 

After several years, I became a proud mother of two beautiful girls.  My husband and I agreed that I should stay at home at least part-time, so I worked for Centrex Laboratories for several years.

I took the opportunity to visit and volunteer at my daughter's classroom and was hooked.  I started taking classes at Utica College  I would need to become  certified to teach in NYS.  After my classes and certification were complete, I accepted a position at South Lewis Middle School as a Science 8 teacher.  I taught 8th grade for 4 years and now have been teaching 7th grade for 7 years. 

 

My experience in the medical field has provided me many real-life experiences that I bring into the classroom.
