LICE
The
South Lewis Board of Education recognizes the concern of lice or nit
(lice egg) infestation and its relationship to the health and education
of our students.
Because of this, it is the policy of the South Lewis Board of Education
that: upon report of the possibility of lice or nits infestation, the
school nurse will inspect the individual to confirm the presence of lice
or nit. If infestation is confirmed, the
student’s parent/guardian will be notified to pick up their child. All
students that are found to have lice or nits will be sent home. The
parent/guardian is expected to treat the student and remove all nits
from the student. The parent/guardian will accompany
the student upon return to school. The school nurse will inspect the
student. If there are live lice or nits present, the parent/guardian
will take the student home for further treatment.
