    Teachers start teaching these basic strategies starting in Kindergarten. They are essential to being a fabulous reader! The most important thing to remember is that reading should always make sense!
    • Go back and reread.
    • Think of a word that makes sense.
    • Use picture clues.
    • Skip the word and keep going.
    • Look for smaller words in bigger words.
    •  Put another word in its place.
    • Look for known chunks.
    • Use the sounds of the first and last letters.
    • Guess and go on reading.
