Hello. My name is Jana Brown and I have been a Secondary Mathematics Teacher at South Lewis for twenty-six years. It was always my dream to be a teacher and I couldn't have asked to be placed in a better school than South Lewis. I grew up in Philadelphia, NY and attended Indian River High School at a time when IR was a small rural school like South Lewis. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Jefferson Community College and received an Associate's Degree in Math and Science. I then attended SUNY Potsdam College and earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.
Currently, I live in Lowville NY with my husband, Chad Brown, the South Lewis High School Student Mediator, and our two fantastic children Sydney, age 17 and Brody, age 14. As a family, we enjoy traveling together for a variety of sports activities. At school, I also act as the Senior Class advisor, the Girls' Athletic Association advisor, and a coach for the Girls' Basketball program.
My goal is to be a life long learner and to inspire my students to see the beauty and purpose of Mathematics.
