Miss Neary

Hello!  My name is Miss Neary and I am teaching Fifth Grade Literacy and Social Studies again this year.  I am excited to meet all of you and to begin another successful school year!

About Me:  I grew up in New York Mills playing sports and enjoying the outdoors.  I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education and from Teachers College, Columbia University with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Teaching.  Before working here at South Lewis, I taught in Ghana (West Africa) and Utica.  I love being in school and learning new things!  Outside of school I enjoy playing sports still, hiking, camping, baking, vacations, and reading.  This summer I also taught summer school and enjoyed time with family and friends!

Expectations:  I am a very organized and hardworking person, so I expect the same from my students.  We will use many resources this year and I expect that our classroom and your personal resources will be kept neat and organized the entire year.  Our homework and classwork will be challenging, but we need to try our best and take intellectual risks in the classroom.  If you have something to share with our class, do not be afraid to share it, even if you think it's different from what anyone else is thinking.  Chances are good that at least one other person thinks the same thing!  If we participate frequently, challenge ourselves and peers, and we collaborate with one another often, we will have a successful year in Fifth Grade!
